Preparing for Your Facelift

Before your facelift procedure, you’ll work closely with your doctor to design a surgical plan that is right for you and addresses your specific cosmetic goals. Each patient is highly unique, so no two facelifts will ever be exactly the same. During your preoperative consultation, you’ll go over the type of technique that will be used to perform your surgery, along with other relevant details.

Your surgeon will explain everything you need to know about your surgery, and you’ll be given detailed instructions for both preparation and aftercare. You’ll need to stop smoking and taking certain medications before your surgery, and your surgeon will give you detailed advice in the days leading up to your actual procedure. Our goal is your peace of mind.

Your Facelift Procedure

Facelift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes between two and four hours to complete. Once your surgery is over, you’ll spend some time in our recovery area before returning home. You’ll need someone to drive you as the anesthesia wears off, however.

Your immediate experience will involve some swelling and discomfort. This is quite normal, and we’ll ensure that you have everything you need to remain comfortable as you begin your recovery. Drainage tubes may be placed, to address the presence of excess fluid.

You should start feeling ready to rejoin your normal schedule after about two to three weeks, though your face will be fully recovered after about two to three months. You’ll be given careful instructions with regards to sun exposure, makeup use, and so forth.
