The summer season is just around the corner and now is the time that our patients start their CoolSculpting treatments to prepare for the warmer weather and beach days.  Yes, it's CoolSculpting season!  We answer the most frequenly asked questions below about this wildly popular treatment and why now is the time to start your summer bod transformation.

What is Coolsculpting?

For the newbies, CoolSculpting is a non-invasive way to permanently removed fat cells without any incisions or downtime.  From the same makers as Botox,  CoolSculpting was approved by the FDA in 2010 and now over 7 million CoolSculpting treatments have been done worldwide.

How does it work?

CoolSculpting uses a fat freezing technology called cryolipolysis.  Scientists discovered this technology while studying what happens to fat after a frostbite.  Using this fat-freezing mechanism, we can freeze the fat to a temperature that kills the cell but leaves the skin and other tissues unharmed.  Once the cells are frozen, the body naturally elininates the dead fat cells which can result in a 20-25% fat reduction in the area.

What is the treatment like?

Coolsculpting starts with an assement with our expert Coolsculpting Providers.  It's important to discuss your aesthetics goals, measure the areas, and determine the correct applicator size and placement. Once you and your provider have mapped out an aesthetic plan, we sanitize the area, place a gel pad on the skin, and then place the CoolSculpting applicator onto the skin.  You will feel suction and a cold burst for the first 5 minutes and then you can relax during the remainder of the treatment.  Many of our patients watch Netflix or work on their laptops during the treatment time.  Once the treatment is complete, we do a 2 minute massage on the area and you are free to go about your day without any restrictions.

Who is a candidate?

CoolSculpting is meant for active, healthy patients over the age of 18 who have stubborn pockets of fat that won't go away with traditional diet an exercise.  CoolSculpting is not a weightloss treatment, in fact, your weight will generally stay the same after a treatment.

Treatment Areas

CoolSculpting is FDA cleared for NINE areas on the body in both men and women.  Areas include under the chin, love handles, abdomen, thighs, arms, and back.  Each area has specially sized applicators.  Our Coolsculpting Providers are experts at assessing the treatment areas in order to determine the appropriate size applicator and unique placement on body.

Expected Results

Although you will start to see some results in the first few weeks after the treatment, the final results take about 8-12 weeks.  Each treatment will include multiple applicators.  Patients who receive at least 2 treatments with multiple applicators usually see the best results.  We recommend spacing these two treatments about 1 month apart.  Allergan studies show that over 90% of patients who did 2 CoolSculpting treatments were satisfied with the results and value compared to 70% of patients who only did one CoolSculpting treatment.

Should I add CoolTone?

CoolTone is a great addition to a CoolSculpting to add it on after your CoolSculpting sessions are complete.  While CoolSculpting is targeting the fat in the treatment area, CoolTone is targeting the muscle.  It uses a technology called magnetic muscle stimulation which sends quick bursts of energy to the muscle forcing them to contract.  This will tighten and tone the muscle fibers resulting in an improved appearance of the targeted muscle shape.
