We are so excted to be one of the first practices in the country to offer Ellacor to our patients. Since we first announced Ellacor, we've had a lot of questions about the treatment, how it works, and expected results. So, here's the complete rundown on Ellacor. If you have questions, you can request an appointment here or at the bottom of the page!
What is it?
Ellacor is a first of its kind technology for the treatment of wrinkles in the mid to lower face. It uses Micro-Coring Technology to remove micro-portions of excess skin to improve the overall apparance of wrinkles and skin laxity. Results are long term, natural-looking with the downtime and scars that you would typically expect with traditional surgery.
How does it work?
Ellacor is its own distinct technology and it works by removing microscopic cores of skin during a treatment that takes about 30 minutes. During that time, 10,000 to 12,000 microcores of skin are being removed, which ranges from about 4% to 8% of the skin. Those microcores heal over several days. Over 2 to 3 months, you see smoothening of lines and improvement in laxity.
How is it different than other skin laxity treatments?
Ellacor is not a laser, an energy-based device, or microneedling. Energy-based treatments that you might be familiar with, like SVIA® patient favorite Morpheus8, use an energy source to create a thermal injury to the tissue to promote collagen production and cell turnover. On the other hand, Ellacor does not use energy at all. Instead of treating underlying tissue only, it uses stainless steel microneedles that are removing micro-cores of skin without the evidence of scarring to help tighten and smooth the overall appearance.
What to expect?
During a treatment, we will inject a local anesthetic and use a topical numbing cream to ensure our patient's complete comfort. The treatment itself takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes depending on the areas of the face you are treating. We will send you home with aftercare products we have specifically curated to promote healing. Immediately after the treatment, patients can expect to have swelling, redness, and pinpoint bleeding which will subside within 7-14 days.
Who is the best candidate?
The best candidates are patients who have early to moderate changes in skin laxity. It's a great option for patients who have been doing non-invasive procedures for a while and looking to consider more aggressive treatments to get the results they want. Although the results are not at the level of what you would achieve with a surgical procedure, like a facelift, Ellacor provides an option of skin removal without having to have surgery for the very first time.
